The Challenge of Obedience
Running from Obedience
Running from the call God gives us doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it looks like avoidance, excuses, or choosing comfort over obedience.
In Jonah 1:1–3, Jonah didn’t run because he couldn’t hear God—he ran because he heard Him clearly and didn’t like the assignment.
God called Jonah to Nineveh, a city filled with violent enemies, but Jonah wanted no part of extending mercy to “those people.” How often do we do the same?
This devotion challenges us to examine where our hearts resist God’s compassion, who we’ve written off, and where God may be calling us to love, forgive, or serve beyond our comfort zone.
Scripture: Jonah 1:1–3
Theme: Obedience, Mercy, Compassion, Surrender
In This Devotion:
• Why Jonah ran from God
• How prejudice and judgment can shape disobedience
• The danger of resisting God’s mercy for others
• What it means to obey even when it’s uncomfortable
• Practical ASK • ACT • PRAY application
God’s mercy is bigger than our opinions. The same grace that saved us is the grace He wants to extend through us.
